Everything one would want to experience while on a trip to Houghton Lake, you will find within a few short miles. Come. Relax. Adventure. Enjoy.
CANOEING & KAYAKING
The Houghton Lake - Roscommon area is home to the AuSable and Muskegon Rivers. The AuSable river runs northward out of St. Helen to Roscommon, then north-east. The Muskegon river flows south and west from Houghton Lake into the backwaters of the Reedsburg Dam.
There are plenty of Canoe Liveries in the area that will take you down either river. The routes range from 2 hours to full day trips. No matter the trip length, both rivers will take canoers of all skill levels on a beautiful journey they won't soon forget.
FAMILY FUN
There are also activities for kids of all ages within a few short miles of our resort. In town you will find, putt-putt golf, go-karts, batting cages, bumper cars, arcades and much, much more to keep the whole family entertained for hours.
FISHING
The surrounding area is home to three lakes, Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake and Lake St. Helen. Our resort is located on the south shore of Houghton Lake's East Bay. Houghton Lake is Michigan's largest inland lake, covering 22,000 acres. Here you will find good fishing possibilities for walleye, pike, bass and bluegill.
Higgins Lake is just a few miles away from our location. Named the sixth most beautiful inland lake in the world, Higgins is sure to impress. This 10,185 acre lake features opportunities to catch lake trout, bass, pike, perch, small mouth bass, rainbow trout and more.
Lake St. Helen covers 2,390 acres. Here you will find good fishing for bass, bluegill, walleye, and rock bass. Largemouth, northern pike and walleye are also present. This manmade lake is extremely popular with anglers and boaters alike.
GOLF
Nothing is better to a golf enthusiast than an early tee time on a beautiful golf course. The surrounding area is home to 12 great courses that are sure to impress any avid golfer.
TRAILS
If you love nature you will love the trails surrounding our establishment. There are miles of trails for hiking, biking, ATV's, ORV's, snow mobiles, skiing and more. There are also several State Parks in the area all waiting to be explored.
SHOPPING
In town you will find shops selling a wide variety of products. From novelty and curio shops to specialty stores, you will truly find a little bit of everything here. There is also a large outlet mall located in West Branch, just a few short miles away.
DINING
You will find a variety of dining options right in town. Fine dining, casual dining, pizzarias, bar & grill's, even fast food and ice cream. Or, if you prefer, there are plenty of local markets, and a Walmart in town, so that you could make your own favorite meal right in your own cozy kitchnette.
